How we’re funded
We plan to fund the guide through labeled booking links; today none of our links earns anything. When one does, it will cost you nothing extra, and it will never decide which hotels are here or what we say about them.
In plain terms
- When a hotel page has a partner link and you book through it, the booking site may pay us a small share.
- You pay the same price you would pay going to that site yourself.
- Hotels pay us nothing: not to be listed, not to be reviewed, not for a better word.
Which links earn us money
On a hotel page, the booking button says one of two things. Check availability is a partner link: it is marked as sponsored in the page’s code, and the first one on each page has a short note beneath it saying so. Visit the hotel’s website goes straight to the hotel and earns us nothing.
Right now, none of our 18 hotel pages has a partner booking link. Every booking button goes straight to the hotel’s own website, and we earn nothing from it.
Booking links appear in at most three places on a hotel page: under its title, at the end, and in a small bar on phones. Never on hotel cards, in collections, or anywhere near the health facts.
What it never touches
Which hotels are included. A hotel is chosen on its own merits. One without a partner link is listed in exactly the same way, and some never will have one.
What we say about them. Every health fact has the same four states, the same sources and the same dates, whatever the link earns. A partner link never turns a Not yet reviewed into anything else.
The order. Hotels appear in the editor’s running order. There is no paid placement and no sort by commission.
What you see. No fake urgency, no countdowns, no “only two rooms left”, no pop-ups.
What we never take
No money of any kind from hotels: no listing fees, no paid placement, no sponsored profiles, no fees for reviews or checks, no “partner” badges and no consulting. We have not yet stayed at these hotels to check them; when we do, we will pay the public rate, and a free night will never be the basis for anything we publish.
We don’t sell advertising, run analytics, or sell or share anything about you. There is nothing to subscribe to and nothing to pay for. Privacy.
Prefer to book direct? Every hotel page also links to the hotel’s own website, which never earns us anything. Booking direct is often the best way to ask for the room you need.
