About

A small guide, kept honest

Hotels you would want to stay in, and a plain account of the air, water and sleep inside them: what is confirmed, what the hotel says, and what we haven’t found yet.

Why it exists

For a lot of people, a good night away depends on things no booking page mentions. A scented corridor, a softener in the sheets, a freshly treated carpet or a room that once allowed smoking can be the difference between rest and a lost day.

The hotels that get this right rarely say so clearly, and the ones that say so loudest are not always the ones that do. So we read what is actually on the record, hotel by hotel, and write it down in one place, with the source and the date beside every line.

We start from the stay itself. Every hotel here is somewhere with good rooms, good light and a reason to go. The health profile is how you decide which of them suits you.

What it is, and isn’t

An edited list
Not a directory. We would rather show a few hotels well than every hotel badly, and we add them slowly.
A record
Not a rating. There are no scores, stars or badges: each question has a state, a source and a date, and you weigh them.
Independent
No hotel pays to be listed, reviewed or described. We plan to fund the guide through labeled booking links; today none of our links earns anything. How we’re funded.
Broad
Fragrance first for many readers, but also air, cleaning, bedding, water, food, light and the building itself. How we review.
A guide
Not medical advice, and not a guarantee about any one room on any one night. If your health depends on a detail, ask the hotel directly before you book; our profiles tell you what to ask.

Corrections

Hotels change, and we will sometimes be wrong or out of date. If you know something we don’t, please tell us: the hotel, the criterion if you know it, what has changed, and a link, document or photo if you have one.

We read every message. We check what you send against a source we can cite, then correct the record and date the change on the hotel’s page. A reader’s account alone is never published as fact, but it is often what sends us looking.

Hotels are welcome to write too, under the same rule: we need a source we can cite. A hotel that would rather not be listed can ask, and we will take it down.

Privacy

We don’t watch you read. There are no analytics, no tracking scripts, no advertising pixels and no cookies of our own. Fonts and images are served from our own domain.

The one exception is the map on each hotel page, which is embedded from Google Maps. Opening a hotel page loads that map from Google, and Google may set its own cookies in it. Pages without a hotel map send nothing to a third party.

Our host, Cloudflare, handles each request to deliver the site and keep it secure, which involves technical data such as your IP address. We don’t use that data to identify or profile you.

If you email us, we use your message to reply and to correct the record. We don’t add you to a list, and we don’t share your address.

A booking link takes you to another site, and that site’s own privacy policy applies from there. A booking partner may use its own cookies, on its own site, to record that you arrived from us.
