The stay

An adults-only hot-springs retreat among old palms and mineral pools.

Two Bunch Palms has been a hideaway since the early twentieth century: low buildings under old palms, a grotto of warm mineral water and a slow, hushed pace. The water rises from the aquifer beneath Desert Hot Springs, and the resort is for adults only.

On the criteria we track, it publishes very little, so this profile is almost entirely not yet reviewed. The pools and grotto are outdoors,1 which we note but do not count as a health signal.

We include it for the water and the quiet. Ask how the pools are sanitized and what the spa uses if chemicals or scent concern you.

    Hotel-reportedacross the property

The hotel says: The pools and grotto are outdoors, fed by the resort’s natural mineral hot springs.

Our note. How the pools are sanitized is not stated.

    How we know

What we look for. Pools are outdoors, or indoor pools have dedicated ventilation and monitored combined chlorine.

Why it matters. Chloramines irritate the skin, eyes and airways, and they build up in the air of indoor pools without enough ventilation. Outdoor pools, and good ventilation for indoor ones, keep levels low.

Context, not scored: almost every pool in this catalog is outdoors, so it says little about one hotel against another.
